AHPCE

The Advanced Hospice Palliative Care Program (AHPCE) is specifically designed to meet the learning aspirations and needs of support workers who care for persons and families living with life-threatening illness.

The AHPCE program draws on the current knowledge, skill and experience of the learner and challenges the support worker to deepen his or her understanding of concepts, develop new skills and apply new learning in practice. Through case based learning, the unique and important role of the support worker on the team in facilitating a change in the illness experience of those living with life-threatening illness through observing, identifying issues in each of the domains outlined in the Model, reporting observations, initiating supportive strategies and advocating is explored.

The Fundamentals of Hospice Palliative Care is a prerequisite for AHPCE. More
